For more than 25 years, Scott MacCargar has led residential remodeling, renovation, and home improvement projects for homeowners throughout the Carolinas. With a background rooted in carpentry and experience across multiple trades, he brings a practical, well-rounded perspective to every project.

What began in Charlotte, North Carolina, has grown into Ace of Trades Construction, a trusted Charleston-based company specializing in residential renovations, additions, and home improvements.

For Scott, a successful project is built on more than quality materials and skilled workmanship. It is also built on strong relationships, honest communication, and trust. His goal is simple: to provide expert craftsmanship and a renovation experience homeowners can feel confident in from start to finish.

Scott and his wife, a leading brand strategist in the design field, are raising their son on James Island. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling with his family, supporting local organizations, and staying involved in the James Island and greater Charleston community.

A Lowcountry native, Travis represents the third generation of his family in the trades. He brings more than 30 years of hands-on experience across plumbing, framing, roofing, gas and mechanical systems, electrical work, masonry, and carpentry—knowledge strengthened by more than a century of construction experience passed down through his family.

As Senior Project Manager, Travis helps coordinate the people, details, and day-to-day work required to keep projects moving forward with care and accountability. Good-natured, tenacious, and naturally relationship-driven, he is valued by clients for his deep understanding of the trades and his respect for the history and heritage that make the Lowcountry distinctive.

Travis enjoys collaborating on projects with his wife, a local designer, and is the proud father of two daughters and a son who has continued the family legacy as the fourth generation to enter the trades.

Every Ace of Trades project is supported by a trusted network of experienced craftsmen, skilled laborers, and specialized trade partners. From demolition and framing through mechanical systems, finish work, and final details, each person is selected for the quality of their work, professionalism, and respect for the homeowner and the home.

Scott and Travis provide hands-on leadership throughout the project, coordinating the right people at the right time and maintaining clear expectations for craftsmanship, communication, cleanliness, and accountability. Homeowners can feel confident that the team working in their home shares the same commitment to doing the work thoughtfully and doing it right.

Her perspective helps clients explore ideas, clarify the feeling and function they want to create, and approach their spaces with greater intention before or alongside a renovation.
